Summerside Set To Welcome Home Atlanticade

Start your engines motorcycle aficionados! Atlanticade is returning home as Summerside has been named the permanent host destination for the international motorcycle festival.

Atlanticade is one of the largest and longest standing motor cycle rallies in Eastern Canada, annually attracting motorcycle enthusiasts from across North America. 2020 organizers anticipate thousands of motorcycles to visit Summerside over the four-day festival, taking in the weekends festivities that will include coastal rides, live music, culinary delights and of course Summerside’s second to none hospitality.

“I am so pleased to announce the return of the event to The City of Summerside where it was originally hosted from 2012-2014. Summerside, despite its size is known all over the region as a city that punches above its weight in attracting and hosting events and I couldn’t be happier to bring this event back to Summerside where we’ve seen such success in the past,” commented Dale Hicks Chairman of Atlanticade. “This news will be welcomed in a big way by the loyal Atlanticade followers. The Island is our favourite place to ride and many others share that opinion. I predict the 2020 festival will be hugely successful for our participants, the City and the Province.”

Entering into its 14th year in operation, Atlanticade is a tried and tested event that carries substantial economic benefit to its host community. Economic impact models indicate the event carries an average impact of close to $1.5 million annually to the host destination. The return of the festival is a welcomed one for the City.

Mayor Basil Stewart, a known advocate for the return of Atlanticade commented, “Atlanticade has been a proven success here in Summerside, and I am very pleased to announce its return back home to Summerside. Local businesses, hotels and restaurants benefit greatly from the many events our City attracts and this announcement is an example of our on going commitment to sport and event tourism in our fair city”.

The 2020 edition of Atlanticade will see some exciting additions. “We have paired the return of Atlanticade with the ever popular Ribfest event which is a natural fit,” added JP Desroiers Director of Community Services. “We want to build on the success of Atlanticade and give attendees even more reason to visit us next summer, we hope to add enhanced music and culinary experiences to the event, we look forward to rolling out the 2020 Atlanticade schedule in the coming months,” added Desrosiers.

Atlanticade is scheduled for August 6-9, 2020. For up to date information, visit Atlanticade.ca
